Gervonta Davis knocks out Ryan Garcia in Las Vegas super-fight with seventh-round stoppage
Tank rolls on to 29-0 with venimous body shot
ervonta Davis won Saturday night’s boxing super-fight in Las Vegas against Ryan Garcia with a brutal stoppage in the seventh round.
On a night billed as “It Doesn’t Get Any Better Than This”, ‘Tank’ produced a dominant display and knocked down his opponent with a huge counter left in the second round.
Garcia recovered well and started to land his jab as the rounds went on, though was unable to find the monster left hook with which he is so associated.
With Davis negating Garcia’s best shot, ‘KingRy’ had to explore avenues.
The increase in his jab teed up some big right hands as the 24-year-old started to impose himself inside the T-Mobile Arena.
Davis, however, would duly respond.
A spiteful body shot felled Garcia, who had first tried to carry on before taking a knee and failing to beat the count.

/ APThe power Davis boasts was always likely to be an issue for Garcia, though it is perhaps surprising the knockout blow came to the body. Having recovered from a shot hit flush on his chin, it was a rather understated end to the kind of fight boxing has needed for years.
Still, ‘Tank’ rolls on. The win takes him up to 29-0, 27 of which have come by way of knockout.
A night boxing needed after a controversial year for the sport, the hope is a fight of this magnitude – one laced with risk for both men – leaves a legacy.
Neither needed to make this happen. A precedent must be set. Boxing will be all the better for it.
