Metropolitan Police officer has pleaded not guilty to raping a woman in an incident more than two years ago.

PC Sam McGregor, 31, was first arrested in June 2021 after an allegation emerged of sex without consent the previous month.

The officer, part of the Met’s Central North Command Unit, was charged with rape in May, after a two-year investigation, and appeared in the dock at the magistrates court last month.

At Inner London crown court on Friday, McGregor pleaded not guilty to rape and an alternative charge of sexual assault.

Judge Benedict Kelleher set him free on bail until a trial which is set to start on April 22 next year.

Scotland Yard has said the alleged victim is “known to” McGregor, and the incident is said to have taken place between May 11 and 12, 2021.

No further details of the alleged offence were given at the court hearing.

McGregor, who lives in Alice Close, Barnet, was arrested in June 2021, a day after he was first accused of rape. The Met said he is currently suspended from duty.

The PC donned a black hat and large black face mask as he left the courthouse in central London.
