West Ham ponder Alex Scott transfer swoop as Bristol City demand £25m fee

est Ham are weighing up a move for Bristol City star Alex Scott, with the Championship club hoping to command a £25million fee.

Scott is one of the most highly-rated young talents in the country and is expected to earn a Premier League move this summer.

The 19-year-old was named the Championship’s Young Player of the Season this term and has just come back from representing England at the Under-20 World Cup.

It is understood that West Ham have held initial talks with the player’s representatives and are now deciding whether to make a move.

David Moyes has a good record of targeting players from the Championship, most notably in signing Jarrod Bowen from Hull City and turning the winger into a full England international.

Scott drew special praise from Manchester City’s treble-winning boss Pep Guardiola after a Carabao Cup meeting earlier this season, the Spaniard calling the midfielder an “unbelievable talent”.

Speaking earlier this season, Robins boss Nigel Pearson said the club would want at least £25m to sanction a sale this summer.

“I believe Alex will play for England one day,” Pearson said. “I thought that when I first saw him in a training session and nothing since has changed my mind.

“He is a level-headed lad, who won’t be affected by reports in the press. He will play for a top club one day and it’s just a question of when.”
